“Law of the journey” of Ai Weiwei

It’s a monumental 2017 art installation created by Ai Weiwei that denounces the plight of refugees and migrants around the world. The work, a massive black rubber dinghy up to 70 meters long, with hundreds of faceless inflatable figures, represents forced exodus and the loss of identity. The title quotes Franz Kafka’s short story “Before the Law”, evoking a note of bitter humor on the fate of migrants, often stuck between a past they can no longer live and a future that is denied them. The installation has been exhibited in various locations, including the National Gallery in Prague (2017) and the Sydney Biennale (2018)
