Serbia – Foreign citizens by nationality (2024)

This horizontal bar chart shows the distribution of migrants arriving in Serbia by nationality, based on a sample of 3540 individuals collected throughout 2024. Only three countries consistently recorded migrant inflows: the vast majority came from the Syrian Arab Republic (about 34%), followed by smaller but notable numbers from Afghanistan (about 19%) and Morocco (about 12%).

The following table presents the approximate percentage of migrants by nationality per month, based on a sample (n = 3,540) rather than the full population (N = 19,603) recorded by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia (SCRM). The figures are drawn from monthly reports with limited coverage, as each monthly report includes only percentages for the top 3 to 5 nationalities, resulting in gaps for some nationalities in certain months. Thus, a simple average is used to illustrate the typical monthly flow by nationality1. While the data may not capture short-term spikes or trends, it still offers a helpful indication of the nationalities most commonly represented.
